Releasing Limitations From The Body: EFT

This post is part of an ongoing series on how to Raise Your Havingness Level. If you want to know what the Havingness Level is, how to find yours, or simply read the series from the beginning, go to Raise Your Havingness Level: Introduction.

In the previous installment of the Raise Your Havingness Level series, we talked about the importance of releasing limitations not only from our thoughts but also from our body.

We already discussed how this can be accomplished with the Access Bars method.

Today we are going to discuss another method that many have found invaluable for releasing limitations: EFT.

WHAT IS EFT?

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), also known as Tapping, is a healing and self-help method developed by Gary Craig.

EFT -like other healing methods -such as acupuncture and acupressure- utilizes the body's meridian points.

EFT is used very widely by all kinds of people, mostly for the relief from different kinds of emotional issues, phobias, PTSD, anxiety, stress, as well as for the removal of inner blocks in different areas of life.

In addition to that, many people use EFT to get relief from physical pain, addictions, lessen the intensity of chronic pain etc.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH EFT

Though other people report amazing results from EFT, when I first tried it several years ago I didn't get amazing results from it, at least for the issue I was focusing on at the time.

While I found it useful for lower-intensity situations (such as stress before exams for example), I didn't have much success when it came to panic attacks, or to truly uprooting and releasing a stubborn limiting belief, so I put the method aside and didn't give it another try for a long time.

Recently I decided to try again and I had much better luck with it.

Even though other people report very fast results in some cases, I have found that -at least for me- in many cases I need to give it at least 15 minutes if I want to experience a noticeable shift.

It also worked much better for me when I didn't just use it to get the emotional charge to zero, but kept tapping with increasingly more positive statements, until I went from stressed and insecure about something for example to confident and excited (as per Silvia Hartmann's Positive EFT book, which I really recommend).

While EFT by itself isn't at the top of my list of systems to use, it can still come in handy in many everyday situations, especially considering how simple it is to learn it and practice it.

I should also emphasize that just because I haven't found this method to be the most effective for me it doesn't mean that this will be the case with you.

I have many friends who feel EFT truly changed their lives, so give it a try and see how it yours for you and how your own body and mind respond to it.

It is also the basis of another method I have had much better results with and which I'm going to write about in the next installment of this series: Matrix Reimprinting.

HOW TO LEARN EFT

EFT is very easy to learn.

The creator of the system Gary Craig has an online official EFT Tutorial on his website.

In addition to that, there are many EFT spinoffs that use variations of the method that you can find for free online, in books by different authors and EFT practitioners, as well as tons of free EFT videos for every issue you can think of on Youtube. Brad Yates for example gives a lot of free EFT stuff on his website and has also created many products you can buy, including a book about EFT for kids. He also has a popular YouTube Channel full of EFT videos you can use.

You can also book a session with a certified EFT Therapist, especially if you are working on some bigger issue than just stress or a headache, like severe PTSD for example.

That's all for now!

Next week, I'm going to talk to you about a method that uses EFT to go back to the time when a block formed or trauma occurred and release it there, therefore changing the present as well.

Have you used EFT? What were your results from it? Do you have a specific EFT version you use that works best for you? Let me know in the comments!
